Trade Trade Remedies
The authority responsible for protecting national industry from unfair trade practices, applying anti-dumping, subsidies, and safeguards mechanisms, and settling international trade disputes in accordance with WTO provisions
Sector Overview
The Sector's Role in the National Economy
The Trade Remedies Sector is one of the fundamental pillars for protecting and supporting the national economy, playing a pivotal role in addressing the harmful effects of unfair trade practices and supporting local manufacturers and producers. This contributes to rationalizing import costs, reducing the trade balance deficit, alleviating pressure on foreign currency resources, as well as enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports and opening new markets for them, in accordance with international agreements and legitimate legal mechanisms.
In this context, the sector effectively contributes to implementing the state's direction towards localizing and deepening national industry and maximizing reliance on the local component, thereby enhancing the position of the Egyptian product and supporting its spread in local and global markets under the slogan "Proudly... Made in Egypt".

International and Regional Role
The Trade Remedies Sector plays an active role at both international and regional levels through:
- • Representing the Arab Republic of Egypt in periodic meetings held by the World Trade Organization, international organizations, and economic blocs concerned with anti-dumping, subsidies, and safeguards agreements.
- • The sector is responsible for drafting legislation and amendments, and participates in formulating negotiating positions and presenting proposals related to trade remedies within the framework of multilateral trade agreements in line with national interests.
Institutional and Societal Role
At the institutional and societal level, the sector provides technical assistance and capacity building, and raises awareness of its role in protecting national industry and defending Egyptian exports through training courses and workshops for the business community and universities at both local and regional levels.
Legal Framework and Mandates
The sector carries out its mandates through investigations conducted within the framework of Egypt's commitments arising from its accession to the World Trade Organization, pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 72 of 1995 approving Egypt's membership in the organization, and the agreements contained in the Final Act of the Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations.
